17 Mile Drive

We decided to go down to Carmel and drive the 17 Mile drive over the holiday.  We haven't done that in years.  It is such a beautiful drive.  Expensive homes, antastic views.  Just like a post card.  This is the famous Lone Cypress.  They've fenced it off since we were last here.  It's looking a little sad.

The Sketchbook Project

I've just signed up for the sketchbook project.  I'm so excited.  I'll have a book full of my art in a library.  It doesn't get any better than that.

2010 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

I walked in the San Francisco Avon Breast Cancer Walk again this year.  This was my 6th year to walk.

This is such a wonderful organization and they really put on a great event.  Even though we walk miles and miles and miles, we have lots of fun.

The entire route is 39+ miles.  26+ on Saturday and 13+ on Sunday.  I don't usually walk the entire thing.  I've learned that is just way to hard on my body---especially my feet.  This year I walked 19 miles on Saturday and 13 on Sunday.

We walk through SF, over the Golden Gate bridge, through Sausalito,  back over the bridge and through the city.  The views are spectacular.

It's a wonderful event and a worthy cause.  I'm already signed up for next year.

Life is...

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass,

It is about learning to dance in the rain.

One Thing Leads to Another?

One thing leads to another describes my artistic journey. It began with dancing and music. Next came embroidery and hippy beads. In the late 70’s I made a macramé wine rack and a hammock in addition to many, many plant hangers. Ceramics were next closely followed by crochet and a little sewing. In the 90’s I became addicted to beads. They take my breath away. I want to own them all (and my DH thinks I do own them all!!) In addition to stringing and weaving, I work with wire and precious metals. I’ve learned to solder and fuse. I’ve melted glass into beads using a torch and a kiln. I can make charms and beads from Precious Metal Clay. I was able to resist the rubber stamping rage as well as the scrapbooking madness. But then I saw the paper. Oh the colors….the patterns….Be still my heart. Now I’ve wandered into the Mixed Media world which lets me combine all these and more. Journaling, book making, encaustics, painting—acrylics, watercolors, pens, pencil. And then there are stenciling, spray paint, gluing, ATC’s, fat books. Ahhhh...so much to do and so little time

So that should explain the “One Thing Leads to Another” right?

Welcome to my world

Welcome to my friends--current and future.  This is my little piece of the blog-o-sphere.  Just a little glimpse into the things I love--Art, music, color, fun.  And probably some of the mundane as well.
